What this site knows about you

Close to nothing, and the reasons are structural rather than a promise: there is no account, no form, no newsletter and no advertising network here.

There is nothing to sign up for

No account, no newsletter, no download gate, no quote form. Nowhere on this site asks for your name or your address, which is the simplest way to be unable to lose either. It also means no mailing list exists, so nobody can be added to one by accident and there is no unsubscribe link to look for.

If you write to the editor, that email sits in a mailbox like any other email, is used to answer you, and goes nowhere else.

Cookies

Nothing is stored in your browser by this site for its own purposes. Whatever host serves these pages keeps ordinary server logs of the kind every web server keeps — a request, an address, a timestamp — for the site to keep working and to notice when something is broken.

There is no advertising network, no remarketing pixel and no third-party script following you from page to page. This is a static site: the pages you receive are the same files everybody else receives.

Five outbound links on this site are affiliate links, each marked with a /go/ prefix and tagged sponsored and nofollow. Following one takes you to the vendor, and the vendor will then know a visit arrived and, if you buy, attribute it to this site. What their tracking does after that is governed by their privacy policy and not by this one — which is worth reading before you sign up to anything, on this subject especially.

The site itself does not learn who followed a link. There is no analytics here joining a click to a person, because there is no analytics here joining anything to a person.

Your rights, if there is anything to exercise them on

Data protection law gives people rights of access, correction, deletion and objection over personal data held about them. The practical position here is that there is no identifier under which anything about you could be looked up, so there is nothing to produce, correct or delete — except an email you have sent to the editor, which will be deleted on request.

Given what this site is about, it is worth stating the obvious: nobody's contact details are collected here, and none are sold, shared or enriched. The tools reviewed on this site do that for a living; the site itself does not.

If this changes

Adding anything that collects information — a form, an analytics tool, anything at all — would mean rewriting this page first and dating the change. A page describing a site that no longer exists is worse than no page.
